E-Scooter Kaufberatung 2025: Worauf du wirklich achten musst (und was wir in der Werkstatt sehen)

#Kaufberatung#E-Scooter 120kg#Straßenzulassung#Werkstatt-Tipps

Hi there! Almost every day, people come to our workshop in Ludwigsburg frustrated with their purchases. Often the scooter looks great online, but after three months, the rattling starts or the battery dies. If you're thinking about getting a scooter, take a moment. We spend all day fixing these things and know exactly which brands just look pretty and which ones actually last. In this guide, we'll show you what really matters.

The Big Question: Street Legality (eKFV) in Germany

No sticker, no ride

Always look for the data confirmation document. Without it, you won't get insurance and aren't allowed on German roads. (And no, tuning kits only make things worse and more expensive).

E-Scooters for Heavy Riders (120kg to 150kg)

This is a topic often ignored. Many standard models from Xiaomi or Segway are officially only rated for up to 100kg. If you weigh 110kg and carry a backpack, you're over the limit. This puts extreme stress on the bearings and brakes. We often see frame fractures or overheated motors because the system is running at its limit.

For riders up to 150kg, we recommend models with a more massive frame and, above all, proper suspension. While a Ninebot G30D II is a tank, it also hits its limits with very heavy riders. Better look at brands like Egret or specific heavy-duty models.

Solid vs. Pneumatic Tires – The Eternal Debate

Vorteile
  • Pneumatic: Much better comfort (your joints will thank you!)
  • Solid: Never have a flat tire again
  • Pneumatic: Better grip in wet conditions
Nachteile
  • Pneumatic: Need to check pressure regularly
  • Solid: Every bump goes straight to your spine
  • Solid: Harder to change (unless you send the wheel to us)

Buy cheap, buy twice – especially with batteries. A cheap e-scooter is often electronic waste after a year because the battery can't be replaced.

Battery Capacity: Always subtract 30% from the manufacturer's claim. That's the reality.

Two independent brakes are mandatory (preferably disc brakes).

Spare parts: Can you still get a tire or brake pads in two years?

Do I really need suspension?
Actually yes, unless you're only riding on perfectly smooth asphalt. Especially in Ludwigsburg's old town with cobblestones, a scooter without suspension is a pain.
What do I do if something breaks after the purchase?
Don't panic. You can bring your wheel or the whole scooter to us or send it by post. We'll fix it!

Still unsure?

Just stop by our place in Ludwigsburg. We provide brand-independent advice and show you what to look out for on your dream model.
