Real Talk: Tires Are Your Scooter's 'Sneakers'
Hey! In our Ludwigsburg shop, we often get asked: 'Hey, you just changed my tire last week, why is it flat again and why isn't it covered under warranty?' I totally get the frustration, seriously. But you have to look at it this way: tires are the only part of the scooter that has direct contact with the ground.
Imagine buying new sneakers and walking through a pile of broken glass the next day. You wouldn't go back to the store and demand new shoes, right? An e-scooter tire is a classic wear part. Whether there's a nail on the bike path or you hit a curb with low air pressure – as mechanics, we unfortunately can't control that once you roll out the door.
What We Guarantee (And What We Don't)
Of course, we guarantee that we mount the tire professionally and that the material is defect-free upon delivery. But if the air is gone after three days because of a small thorn in the rubber, that's unfortunately bad luck (or just everyday life on roads). Check out our Tire Encyclopedia where we explain the pitfalls of different types.
The Three Most Common 'Unlucky Cases'
The classic foreign object: Glass, grit, or tacks. No rubber is immune to that.
Low pressure: When pressure drops, the tube shifts and rubs itself raw. That's not a material defect, it's a maintenance issue.
Curbs: Hit one too hard, and the tube gets pinched between the rim and the stone (snakebite).
Why We Are Still the Best Choice
Vorteile
- ✓We check the rim for sharp edges
- ✓Use of professional mounting paste (gentle on rubber)
- ✓Correct torque during motor installation
- ✓No risk to the motor cable while prying
Nachteile
- ✗We can't magically remove nails from the street
- ✗Physics (friction & sharp objects) unfortunately always wins
Changing an e-scooter tire is often a real dirty job, especially with the small 8.5-inch wheels. Anyone who has tried it themselves knows why pro tools are worth their weight in gold.
What we can offer you, though: If you've been hit again, we'll fix it fast and properly. In our Ludwigsburg workshop, we have almost all common sizes in stock. And for those who don't feel like pushing, there's always our pickup service.
By the way: If you're totally done with air pumps, we can talk about solid tires. It's a bit of a stiffer ride, but the word 'flat tire' becomes history. Just drop by!
