Accessory Jungle: Do You Really Need All That?
To be honest? When we get scooters into our Ludwigsburg workshop, we often see things that are more of a nuisance than a help. But then there are gadgets where I think: 'Man, I wish the customer had this sooner!'
Not all accessories are created equal. There's stuff that makes your life safer, and then there's the knick-knacks that fall off at the first curb. So before you spend half your monthly salary on bags and phone holders, let's take a quick look at what really makes sense. Lock Check: Chain or D-Lock?
Vorteile
- ✓Handcuff locks are super compact
- ✓D-locks are very hard to break quickly
- ✓Alarm locks deter casual thieves
Nachteile
- ✗Cheap cable locks are cut in 2 seconds
- ✗Heavy chains are annoying while riding (weight!)
Tech That Protects Your Chassis
What many forget: the best accessory is the one that reduces wear. We often see people buying cool stickers but then riding with far too little tire pressure. (Pro tip: a decent electric pump is worth its weight in gold!). If you notice your scooter handling spongy despite good accessories, it might not be the gadget, but the maintenance & care.
And if the tires are already completely worn, even the best accessories won't help. Then you should probably think about a tire change before you wipe out on wet asphalt.
Safety Trap: Cheap Lights
Stay away from 5-euro lights from overseas! If they fail in the dark on a main road, it gets dangerous.
