More often, the internal balance of the cells is totally off. An e-scooter battery consists of many small individual cells that have to work together like a team. If there's one 'bad apple' in the bunch, it drags down the entire performance. That's exactly why it's so important to check cells individually instead of immediately opting for a full e-scooter battery replacement.

What exactly is Cell Drift?

Imagine a team of runners. If one is limping, the whole group has to slow down. In batteries, we call this 'cell drift'. If one cell has a different voltage than the rest, the BMS (Battery Management System) shuts down for safety – even if the other cells still have juice. We measure this precisely in our workshop.

Does a new charger help with cell problems?
Usually not. The charger just pumps current in – how it's distributed among cells is decided by the BMS. If cells are too far out of sync, only manual workshop balancing helps.
